How can I start a new sport in my sophomore year?
Q. I'm going to be a sophomore this year. I've never really played sports before and am not very good at most of them. The only sport I've done was track in middle school. I was one of the slowest on the team, but I did improve and enjoyed it. So, is it too late for me to start this a sport year? I'm interested in tennis and field hockey. Will there be other inexperienced people on the team? How do I go about starting one of these sports? And which one do you think I should do?

A. I play field hockey, and don't know much about tennis. Tennis might be a great sport to pick up, but I highly suggest field hockey. Field Hockey is the kind of sport that you can improve quickly on just by allowing your self to be coachable and putting in a little effort. To tryout you need to abilities, running and field sense. Sure it would be helpful to have stick skills and know all the rules. But At tryouts its so much more helpful to have endurance and can play the game well. It might be to late... but it might not be to. I think you should try it... ask around and find a stick no ones using, pass around with someone see if you like it. If you do then practice and run. Even if you don't want to put in all this effort then don't. Just… [cont.]

What is the most physically demanding sport? And what is the most mentally demanding sport?
Q. I've been playing a bit of tennis lately and reckon that is right up there is terms of mentally demanding. And I've also been doing some sprint cycling and reckon that's fairly physically demanding. What sports have other people played? What do think is the most physically demanding sport? And what is the most mentally demanding sport?
Asked by therightbananas - Sun Jan 20 20:55:46 2008 - - 22 Answers - 2 Comments
A. The most physically demanding sport would probably be soccer, in my opinion. Running back and forth across a field is pretty tough and requires a ton of stamina and endurance. As for mentally demanding, this might be a bit "out there", but I'll say baseball. There is a ton of thinking in this game. For example if you're the batter, it takes a lot of work to try and figure out what kind of pitch you're going to get. Same goes for the pitcher, who tries to throw you a pitch that you haven't predicted.

What Olympic sport could I start in time for London 2012?
Q. I've been transfixed with the Olympics. I'm 30 and have never done a sport. Is there ANY kind of sport I could start now to be in time for qualifying for London 2012.I want to experience the same sense of pride those atheletes feel when representing their countries. A. I agree with others here that you have probably not enough time to develop the skilss of a sport where strategy and instinctive action or reaction are required. You best bet is to figure out ONE fitness based and/or skill sport based on your physique (remember at 30, your physique is pretty well established so, for example, you may not want to look at running as your sport if your physique is good for weightlifting). Don't forget to consider sports you may not have much experience in. For example, you may have a very good physique for archery even though you have not really done it competitively! N.B. You HAVE to have a passion for your sport. You will be doing it all day every day and it will cause you more pain and heartache than you… [cont.]

What is the difference between light sport and experimental light sport?
Q. was reading around and wonder what the difference between the two is.im 19 years old and I am always making wishlists. should I go for light sport or ultralight aircraft? looking for a 2 seater with enough stability to handle mild crosswinds. needs to be able to cover 200 miles between stops and needs to run on unleaded pump gas. any suggestions? also, how hard is it to get an LAS license and what would be the expected cost?
Asked by Joshua - Fri May 28 00:59:40 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you want to travel with some level of comfort then a Light Sport wins over an "ultralight" Most ultralights are one person open air no cabin type aircraft. The LSA's will be faster and enclosed. Here is some good information for you from Sport Pilot You can see the Wiki on Ultralights The difference between a certified LSA and an experimental LSA is "who built the aircraft" experimental are usually built by the owner/pilot where as certified LSA's are built by the manufacturer such as Cessna. There are many choices of homebuilt as well as factory built aircraft. Check the web site for some good information.
